The first cabbage I used in this painting was not from my garden, but from a Farm shop near where I lived. Unfortunately we never got to eat it or the other two cabbages I used to finish off the painting. I expect you have smelt rotten cabbage; it is a horrible smell and in room temperature can start quite early on.
Painting plants is not always glamorous!
