For me this picture is a memory of a dear friend – Linda. She had a lovely garden in which she grew flowers, fruit and vegetables.

I wanted to paint the complicated roots of this interesting, but not particularly pretty plant; It became more beautiful as the picture developed. Linda dug the plant up for me from her garden and the original now has its home in the USA.
