Malus x atrosanguinea “Gorgeous” Crab apple was a small, gently spreading-shaped tree in our garden. The blossom were white with some pale pink on the outside of the petals. The crab apples produced looked like miniature, deep red, eating apples.
These crab apples were the most tasty of all seven trees we had in our garden – with a slight sharpness to the flavour. Although a very small tree it produced quite heavily and each year we were able to make a fair amount of jelly from it.
