Malus “Evereste” PERPETU Crab apple can be quite a large crab apple tree with crinkly blossom producing stripey, round crab apples in the late summer/autumn.
I first saw this species of crab apple when a student brought a short branch with the apples to a class to paint. I just loved the stripey effect on the apples with a puckered part round the remnants of sepals. I had to get the tree for my garden so that it could become one of the species I was using for this exhibit.
We have also made lovely crab apple jelly from this sort, perhaps mixing it with Rowan berries.
