Ivy leaf Toadflax

Ivy-leaved Toadflax. Watercolour on natural calf-skin vellum

I love ‘tiny’, and this is a tiny flower. The Ivy-leaved toadflax can be found clinging to walls. It flourishes on old lime-washed walls. This is why in the UK it can be seen on old buildings and churches.

Painting this picture was definitely a labour of love. It may be small but there is so much intricate detail in the way the plant grows across cracks and crevices.
