I painted this tulip to demonstrate several things, mostly because it is in colour pencil.

But the other things I wanted to draw attention to was;
– the shine on the petals and matt effect of the leaves,
– the flower form with the light coming in from the left,
– the shadow cast across the stem and onto the leaf, and last but not least,
– the veining on the petals giving them their very special shape.
