I won a Silver Gilt medal at the Royal Horticultural botanical art show in 2014 for my crab-apple series painted in colour pencil on HP paper. I collected all six trees for the series and grew them in my garden. But I also bought a seventh tree, the ‘Royal Beauty’, which I didn’t paint at that time. There are some fantastic colours in this tree so therefore to make amends I have done this tiny painting on vellum of the glowing fruit.
