Another member of the Solanaceae (nightshade)family. This plant often popped up somewhere in the garden in England and I was always happy to see it.
The plant grew quite quickly and had startling blue flowers. But gradually the flower went over into an encapsulated fruit, and in the winter the calyx went over into this filigree cage.
I have never painted the flower not realising that I would move from the UK to a much colder winter climate.
The small pen and ink picture started out as a demonstration at a workshop, but I was quite pleased with the result as the ink drawing has maintained the stem’s delicacy.
