Now living in Norway I am at liberty to paint plants that have meant a lot to me over the years and are native here. The liverwort or blåveis is my all-time favourite flower and you will understand why from this picture.
The liverwort lives in deciduous woods which allow the sun to get to the plant immediately the snow melts. As the season progresses, the leaves appear on the trees protecting the plant on the forest floor. They are one of the first plants to raise their flower buds above the snow in the early spring and you have to keep your eyes open to see the blue dotted around on the forest floor.
