Botanical art painting holiday at Le Manoir, the Dordogne, France.

Saturday 23rd September  – Saturday 30th September 2017

Your tutor is Gaynor Dickeson, a British botanical artist with 40+ years of art teaching experience in America, Norway and of course the U.K.

The location is Le Manoir, St Sulpice d’Exideuil in the Dordogne. It is a beautifully restored 19th century house which has been brought back to its former glory, including the style of furniture which has been lovingly collected for your delight.

Over the years, Gaynor has exhibited in London, Perth; Australia, Norway and America. Presently she has work in the American travelling 14th International Exhibition of Botanical art and illustration. Later this year in November and December she will again exhibit at the New York Design Centre.

Her work is in collections including the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh and Cumberland Lodge, Great Windsor Park, London.

Gaynor will be teaching watercolour or colour pencil techniques at Le Manoir. Because places are kept limited in this botanical art workshop holiday, everyone will get periods of one-to-one tuition.

Her students normally range from those with little or no experience, to those who are very proficient in their chosen medium. The small class size at Le Manoir guarantees you the exclusive time and help you need to develop your skills.

Its all in the planning

Airport transfer: If you choose, we can collect you from airports at either Limoges or Bergerac on the first Saturday and return to either on the second Saturday. Or you may arrange your own transport to and from Le Manoir if you wish.

Tuition: Gaynor will provide active tuition for 6-half days and otherwise be available at other times for any queries about ongoing work.

Trips: There are five local trips planned, but Gaynor will stay at Le Manoir during three of them, in case you prefer to carry on painting and want her advice.

Cuisine: You will experience the local cuisine at Le Manoir and in carefully chosen local restaurants and other eating places. If you like French food, you will have a memorable treat in store.

Relaxation: A holiday is also about relaxing. Le Manoir is in a small village in the quiet heart of the French Dordogne. As well as the planned trips there are opportunities to explore on foot or on rented bikes, visit vineyards, play golf, or relax by the exclusive and heated outdoor swimming pool. This means that a partner who comes with you can also relax in style, or have lots to do if they prefer.

Le Manoir offers a unique, exclusive and memorable botanical art holiday.

Comment: To enjoy a week with Gaynor in this beautiful situation would be my idea of creative heaven! A much needed chance to inspire an artist currently “stuck” in a period of unusual inactivity.
